West Nile Virus Antibodies.
1 biomarker as listed by Better2Know.
This blood test checks for antibodies that develop when you have the West Nile virus (WNV).
WNV is a viral infection that typically affects birds. The virus spreads when a mosquito bites an infected bird and subsequently bites a human. An infected pregnant person may transmit the virus to the foetus during pregnancy or to the baby during breastfeeding. Some individuals may contract the virus from infected blood or organs.
WNV is most prevalent during the summer and autumn. Approximately 4 in 5 individuals with the infection do not exhibit any symptoms.
If you are infected with WNV, your immune system produces antibodies against it. These antibodies are designed to help eliminate the virus. The WNV antibody test searches for these antibodies in your blood. If they are present, it indicates that you have an infection.
Better2Know's tests and screens yield accurate and reliable results that are in line with widely accepted medical guidelines. The West Nile Virus Antibody Test will give you a clear understanding of your infection status, enabling you to make responsible health choices.
