About this test

This screen checks for four common sexual infections in one visit: HIV, syphilis, chlamydia and gonorrhoea. It combines a blood sample, used for the HIV and syphilis checks, with a swab for chlamydia and gonorrhoea. It sits in the comparison group for standard STI screens covering four to seven infections, and its biomarker count of four is a little below the typical six across that group.

Priced at £395, it is by far the most expensive of the four-infection screens we compare it against. LloydsPharmacy's equivalent home kit costs £59.95, MyHealthChecked's male and female versions are £75 each, and Forth's standard kit is £79; even Better2Know's own postal FAST TRACK Four Screen Home Test Kit, covering the same four infections, is £170. The gap comes down to format: this is an instant, staffed clinic test rather than a self-collected postal kit.

The scores reflect this. Clinical depth is close to the group median because four markers is typical for this style of screen. value for money is weak given the size of that premium. Collection convenience still scores well, reflecting that Better2Know's four-infection range spans clinic and postal options even though this specific version is a clinic visit, and results and follow-up mark it down because a doctor does not review the result as standard. Better2Know has a 4.2 Trustpilot score from 775 reviews, is CQC registered, and has 18+ years trading history.

Who is it for?

This is worth the extra cost if you want a face-to-face appointment and a result within about half an hour, for example ahead of travel or a same-day decision. If cost matters more than speed, Better2Know's own FAST TRACK Four Screen Home Test Kit checks the identical four infections by post for £170, and LloydsPharmacy's 4-in-1 kit covers the same four for £59.95, both far below this £395 instant version.

How it works

The clinician takes a blood sample, usually by finger prick, for the HIV and syphilis checks, and a swab (from the vagina or the urethra) for the chlamydia and gonorrhoea checks. Better2Know states there are no fasting or dietary requirements. Testing happens in the clinic while you wait, with results available in around 30 minutes, and you are given a signed results report on the day. A doctor consultation is arranged if a result comes back positive, rather than every result being reviewed by a doctor as standard.

Pros & cons

Pros

  • Checks four infections (HIV, syphilis, chlamydia, gonorrhoea) from one clinic visit.
  • Result given on the day, in around 30 minutes, rather than sent later.
  • No fasting or dietary preparation needed beforehand.
  • A positive chlamydia or gonorrhoea result comes with a same-visit prescription.

Cons

  • At £395, this costs far more than comparable four-infection kits, including Better2Know's own £170 postal version.
  • Results are not reviewed by a doctor as standard.
  • Only available in person at select clinics, not as a home kit.

Our editorial score

Compare Health Test Score Priciest four-infection screen against home-kit rivals
Editorial confidence: 9.5/10

HIV, syphilis, chlamydia and gonorrhoea are checked together here, via a blood sample and a swab, with a result given at the clinic the same day. At £395 it costs roughly £335 more than Better2Know's own FAST TRACK Four Screen Home Test Kit, which checks the same four infections by post for £170, and considerably more than rival kits from £59.95. The trade-off is speed versus price.
