  • DNA (Single Stranded) Antibodies (anti-ss DNA)

About this test

Single Stranded DNA antibodies (anti-ssDNA) are found in around 50% of those with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), and while not so sensitive it is more specific than ANA, and is associated with more severe forms of this condition. It is not so useful in the investigation of other autoimmune disorders owing to the fact that it is found in a number of conditions.
