This test will analyse your blood to assess the functioning of major body organs including your liver, kidneys and heart. The tests included in this screen will indicate whether any of the parts of your body tested are not functioning optimally.

The Better2Know Blood Chemistry Test requires a blood sample. Your test kit will contain everything you need for your nurse to collect your sample. Once your nurse has collected your blood sample, simply place your sample in the pre-paid return envelope and send it for analysis at our accredited UK laboratory.
This test will assess the following:
Kidney profile. Sodium, potassium, urea and creatinine.
Liver profile. Transaminases (alanine and asparagine), gamma-glutamyl transpeptidase (GGT), alkaline phosphatase, aspartate aminotransferase (AST), alanine aminotransferase (ALT), bilirubin and albumin.
Bone profile. Protein, albumin, calcium, phosphorus and alkaline phosphatase.
Cardiac profile. Transaminases (alanine and asparagine), creatine kinase, lactate dehydrogenase and potassium.
Lipid profile. Cholesterol, triglyceride, high-density lipoprotein (HDL cholesterol), low-density lipoprotein (LDL cholesterol).
Glucose. Measures your blood sugar levels.
Chloride. Essential for digestion. Helps to balance electrolytes, as well as acidity and alkalinity, which helps to maintain a healthy pH.
Uric acid. High levels may indicate gout.

Your Blood Chemistry Test results will be ready within one working day of your sample's arrival at our certified laboratory. You can track your results online by logging into your secure patient area at any time. A member of our Patient Services team will also contact you when all of your results are ready.
If your test reveals any abnormal levels, you should see a doctor about the results. Medication can be prescribed, and further testing may be required to monitor the success of treatment.
